Internal team messaging with channels and direct messages.

Messages

Messages is TechsBox's built-in team chat. Use it to coordinate with your techs, share updates, and keep conversations organized — all without leaving the app.

Access it from Messages in the sidebar.

Channels

Channels are group conversations visible to your whole team. TechsBox creates a #general channel automatically when you first visit Messages.

Creating a Channel

  1. Click the + next to "Channels" in the sidebar
  2. Enter a channel name (e.g., front-desk, parts-orders)
  3. Optionally add a topic description
  4. Click Create Channel

Using Channels

  • Type your message in the input at the bottom and press Enter to send
  • Press Shift+Enter for a new line
  • Unread channels show a blue dot in the sidebar
  • Messages auto-refresh every 5 seconds

Direct Messages

DMs are private one-on-one conversations between two team members.

Starting a DM

  1. Click the + next to "Direct Messages" in the sidebar
  2. Select a team member from the list
  3. Start chatting

DMs are between two people. If you need a group conversation, create a channel instead.

Mobile

On smaller screens, the channel sidebar is hidden by default. Tap the menu icon in the top left to open it, then tap a channel to switch. The sidebar closes automatically when you select a channel.

Tips

  • Use channels to organize by topic — #parts-orders, #scheduling, #front-desk
  • The member count shows in the top right of each channel
  • Messages show relative timestamps ("2 minutes ago") and group consecutive messages from the same sender
