The Bench

The Bench is your shop's visual command center. It shows all active in-shop jobs organized into three columns — giving you an instant read on what's waiting, what's being worked on, and what's done.

Access it from Bench in the sidebar.

How It Works

The Bench is a kanban board with three columns:

Column	Status	What It Means
In Bench	Checked In	Device received, waiting for a tech
Tech Bench	In Progress	A tech is actively working on it
Out Bench	Complete	Repair done, ready for customer pickup

Jobs flow left to right: Check In → In Bench → Tech Bench → Out Bench → Picked Up.

Moving Jobs Between Columns

There are two ways to move a job:

• Drag and drop — grab a card and drag it to another column (works on desktop and mobile with a long-press)
• Action button — each card has a button like "Start Work" or "Complete" to advance to the next status

Stats at a Glance

At the top of the page you'll see four counters:

• In-Shop — total active jobs across all columns
• Waiting — jobs in the In Bench column
• Repairing — jobs on the Tech Bench
• Done — jobs in the Out Bench column

Checking In a New Job

Click the Check In button (top right, or at the bottom of the In Bench column) to create a new job. The new job will appear in the In Bench column automatically.

Job Cards

Each card on the bench shows:

• Customer name
• Problem description (first two lines)
• Current status badge
• Scheduled time (if set)
• Assigned tech (if assigned)

Click any card to open the full job detail page.

Workflow

The Bench enforces a logical workflow. You can't skip steps:

1. Checked In → can move to In Progress
2. In Progress → can move back to Checked In, or forward to Complete
3. Complete → can be marked as Picked Up (removes from the board)

If you try an invalid move (e.g., dragging a Checked In job straight to Complete), TechsBox will show an error.
