techsbox vs Zoho FSM

Zoho FSM is field service management for companies that send technicians out to sites, and it is priced by how much work you do. techsbox is repair shop software priced by what your shop needs, with no ceiling on how many repairs you take in.

The thing to check before you sign up

Zoho FSM is priced on volume. Its paid plans start at $30/mo and include 60 invoices and 60 appointments a month in the base price. Go past that and the price moves up with your volume. The free tier includes 30.

For a lot of field service companies that is a sensible way to buy software. For a repair shop it is worth doing the arithmetic first, because 60 invoices is two or three repairs a day. A phone shop replacing screens can pass that inside a fortnight, and the month you get busy is the month your software bill goes up.

techsbox does not meter jobs, invoices or appointments on any plan, including the cheapest one. Your busiest December costs the same as your quietest February.

Zoho FSM figures read from their published editions and pricing on 2026-08-08. Volume pricing above the base allowance is quoted by appointment tier on their pricing page.

The core difference: appointments or a bench

An appointment is the wrong unit for a repair

Zoho FSM is organized around a service appointment: a time, a place and a technician who travels to it. A repair does not have one of those. The device arrives, waits, gets diagnosed, waits for a part, gets fixed and gets collected. techsbox tracks that as a job with a status and a history, not as a calendar entry someone has to keep rescheduling.

Volume pricing punishes a good month

Paying more when you do more sounds fair until you run a shop with a seasonal spike. Console repair is lumpy, phone repair follows new handset launches, and a busy month is exactly when you least want a bill you did not plan for. Flat pricing means the software cost is a fixed line you can forget about.

You are probably not running the rest of Zoho

Zoho FSM is at its strongest as one piece of a suite, wired into Zoho CRM, Books and Inventory. If you already run that stack, that is a real and genuine reason to choose it. If you do not, you are adopting a field service tool that expects a field service company around it.

Your customer wants to know if it is ready

Every techsbox shop gets a public page and a status lookup, so a customer can check their repair by phone number or email instead of calling your counter. That is the single most common question a repair shop gets asked, and it is the one a field service tool has no reason to answer.

When Zoho FSM is the right choice

If you already run Zoho, pick Zoho FSM. The integration with CRM, Books and Inventory is the whole point of it and nothing here replaces that. The same goes if your work is genuinely in the field: dispatch consoles, territories, skills-based assignment and multi-day appointments are all things it does properly and we do not do at all. If your work arrives through a shop door and sits on a bench, that is what techsbox is for.
