techsbox vs ServiceM8

ServiceM8 gives you unlimited users and then counts your jobs: every plan is a different number of jobs a month. techsbox counts nothing. One flat price, however many devices come through the door.

“Not published” means their pricing page does not state it, so neither do we. It is not a claim that the feature is missing.

What it costs as the bench fills up

Comparing one plan against one plan would not be honest here, because ServiceM8's plans are not really different products: they are the same product with a bigger number on the meter. So this is their cheapest plan that actually covers the volume, against ours. Ours is the same number in every row, because job count is not something we meter.

ServiceM8 figures are their published monthly rates and job allowances, read from their pricing page on 2026-08-17. They publish no annual rate for any plan, so this compares monthly against monthly. The first row is one they win.

The core difference: they meter the work, we do not

A good month should not cost more than a slow one

Starter is $29/mo and covers 50 jobs a month, which is roughly two a working day. Take in a third and the next plan is $79/mo. Nothing about your shop changed except that it was busy, and the software bill went up by $50/mo. Ours is $49/mo in December and $49/mo in February.

Unlimited users is genuinely theirs, and we will not pretend otherwise

Every paid ServiceM8 plan holds as many people as you like, starting at $29/mo. Our Solo plan is one seat; unlimited users starts at Team, $49/mo. If you have four technicians and forty jobs a month, they are cheaper than we are and you should buy from them.

They are built for a van, we are built for a bench

ServiceM8 grew up in field service: dispatch, GPS, the technician who drives to the customer. That is real and it is good. Repair work is the other shape. A device is checked in, sits on a shelf for days waiting on a part, and the customer comes back for it. Our job board is that shelf.

The meter is on the thing you cannot control

Seats you choose. Locations you choose. How many devices arrive this month, you do not. ServiceM8 does give you a week of grace past the limit rather than locking the door, which is decent of them, but at the end of that week the choice is upgrade or stop taking work in. Pricing on the one number a shop cannot plan is our whole objection to their model.

When ServiceM8 is the right choice

If your people work in the field rather than at a bench, if you need dispatch, GPS and forms filled in on a phone at a customer's house, ServiceM8 does that properly and we do not do it at all. If you are a big crew doing a small number of large jobs, their unlimited users on a $29/mo plan is the better deal and the job meter will never trouble you. And if you do fewer than 30 jobs a month, their free plan is free and ours is a trial. Buy the right tool.

Nobody is counting your jobs.
