techsbox vs Kickserv

Kickserv tells you what it costs, which is more than most of this market does. The smallest number on the page is $60/mo, and it buys 5 seats. If you are one person, you pay for all five. techsbox starts at $15/mo for one.

What it costs as you hire

Kickserv sells 5 seats for $60/mo, 10 for $119/mo and 20 for $199/mo. There is no per seat charge on top, which is genuinely simpler than most of this market. The catch is at both ends of the ladder: you cannot buy fewer than 5 seats, and person number 6 moves you a whole tier.

Read from their pricing page on 2026-09-03. Kickserv advertises a 20% saving for paying annually and publishes no discounted figure, so the monthly prices are the ones compared here. Our own annual discount is not in this table either, for the same reason: it would be our best number against their worst.

The core difference: the size of the smallest thing you can buy

A one person shop pays for 5 seats

Kickserv's floor is $60/mo and it includes 5 users. There is no smaller plan, so a solo tech pays the same as a shop with five people. Our Solo plan is $15/mo and our whole Team plan is $49/mo, which is still less than their entry price with room for everybody you hire.

The tiers are the seat ladder, so growth arrives in steps

Adding your 6th person is not a small line on the invoice, it is a move from $60/mo to $119/mo. That is the month your bill nearly doubles because one apprentice started. On techsbox headcount is not part of the price at all: the same $49/mo covers your second technician and your tenth.

They publish their prices, and that deserves saying

Plenty of this market puts a Request pricing button where the number should be. Kickserv does not. Three tiers, three figures, no demo booking in the way. We are not going to pretend otherwise to win a row in a table, and if you are comparing them against a tool that hides its price, that is a real point in their favour.

They are built for trucks, we are built for a bench

Kickserv is field service software: scheduling a crew, getting them to an address, capturing a signature at the door. It does that properly. A repair shop is the other shape. The device comes to you, sits on a shelf for three days waiting on a part, and the hard part is knowing where everything is. That is the problem techsbox was built around.

They ship an estimate document and we do not

Kickserv lists estimates alongside jobs and invoices, with online approvals. techsbox has no estimate model: you price the work on the job and raise an invoice from it, and there is no separate document a customer signs first. If a signed estimate before every job is how you work, that is a real reason to pick them over us.

When Kickserv is the right choice

If the work happens at the customer’s address rather than on your bench, Kickserv fits better and it is not close. Dispatching a crew, a native app in a technician’s pocket, an estimate the customer approves before anyone drives out: that is what they built, and we ship none of it. If you already have five people, the seat maths stops being an argument too, because at that size $60/mo for the lot is a fair price. The case for us is the small end. One or two people, devices on a shelf, and a bill that does not jump the month you hire somebody.
