techsbox vs Tradify

Tradify is job management for trades on the road: electricians, plumbers, gas engineers, HVAC. Every plan they publish is priced per user, starting at $47/mo for the first seat and the same again for every seat after it. techsbox is built for a repair bench, starts at $15/mo, and headcount is not part of the bill.

These two are not built for the same work

Tradify sells to electrical, plumbing, gas, HVAC and property maintenance businesses. The work goes to the customer. techsbox is for a shop where the customer brings the device to you and it sits on a bench with a ticket on it. If your techs drive to jobs all day, the rest of this page is interesting but it is not the deciding factor, and you should probably pick them. If your work comes in over a counter, read on.

“Not published” means we did not find it stated on their own pages, so we do not state it either. It is not a claim that the feature is missing.

What it costs as you hire

Tradify has no tier that includes a team. Lite is $47/mo per user, Pro is $51/mo per user and Plus is $61/mo per user, and the multiplication starts at the first seat rather than at some included headcount. So the plan you pick buys features and the number of people you employ buys the bill, and the second number is the one that grows.

Read from their pricing page on 2026-09-07. Every row is their cheapest published way to seat that many people, which is always Lite: their tiers do not change the seat arithmetic, only what each seat can do. A shop that wants their timesheets or their reporting is on Pro or Plus and pays more than the column shows. Their page publishes no annual rate and no monthly toggle, so both sides of this table are monthly prices and our own annual discount is left out of it.

The core difference: they price people, we do not

There is no seat included, so the price multiplies from one

Most per-user products include a seat or two before the meter starts. Tradify does not: $47/mo is what one person costs, and five people on the same plan is $235/mo. On techsbox the same $49/mo covers your second technician and your twentieth, and the Saturday kid who only does screen protectors costs nothing to give an account to. That is the entire argument, and at five people it is a difference of $186 every month.

Hiring a technician should not need a budget conversation

A shop on Lite that takes on a second tech has just added $47/mo to a fixed monthly cost, before that person has fixed anything. It is not a large number on its own and it is the shape that matters: every growth decision now has a software line item attached to it. Ours does not move, so the question stays about whether you need the help.

Neither of us counts your tickets, and that is worth saying

Several comparisons on this site turn on a meter: a ticket cap, an invoice cap, a jobs-per-month allowance that resets. Tradify publishes none of those and neither do we. If you are leaving a system because a busy December cost you more, both of us solve that. The argument between us is about headcount, not volume.

They ship quotes and we do not

Quoting is on every Tradify plan, Lite included, with customer approval built around it. We do not have a quote or estimate document you send a customer to sign off. We price the work on a job, which is internal, and that is a different thing. If getting written approval before you open the device is how you run the bench, that is a real reason to pick them and we are not going to bury it in a footnote.

They have a native app and we are mobile web

Tradify ships iOS and Android. techsbox runs in a phone browser and is built to work there, but it is not something you install from a store, and there is no offline mode. For a tech standing in someone's plant room with no signal that difference is the whole product. For a tech standing at a bench with wifi it usually is not.

What we do that they do not publish

Inventory and parts on hand, a public shop page on your own subdomain that customers can find, a customer portal, purchase orders on every plan rather than only the top one, and search across your own work history on Pro. And a bill you can predict: the number does not move when you hire, when you open a second bench, or when the repairs pile up.

When Tradify is the right choice

If your business drives to the work, pick them. Tradify is built for that and we are not: subcontractor scheduling, timesheets against a job, a native app that works in a van, and quoting with customer approval on the cheapest plan. None of those are things we are about to add, because a repair bench does not need them. The same goes if your accountant needs the sync on day one rather than on our Pro plan. The case for techsbox is the shop that takes work in over a counter and keeps hiring: no charge per technician, no cap on tickets, and a price you can read without booking a call.

Hiring should not move your software bill.

From $15/mo a month. No credit card required to start, no ticket cap, and no charge per technician when you grow.
